Brows - things you may not know

The trend for bold brows is still a firm favourite and as on trend as ever at the moment; the trick to achieve thicker, fuller brows – first you need to know a couple of things!:

A) Hair Growth Cycles - Eyebrow hair grows in 3 cycles, it is important to understand this and be patient! If you over pluck in the first stage of the hair’s cycle, it will take considerably longer for that hair to be replaced. You need to be patient when growing your brows back in!

B) Don’t Get Impatient! – You really don’t need to grow in a lot more hair to appear to have a more bold looking brow; it only takes 2 – 4 rows of hair to grow back in to achieve this. Hair growing above the brow is quicker and easier to grow compared to hair underneath the brow, generally speaking. Don’t be tempted to pluck!

C) Try this for a Fuller Appearance – Using a pomade, or a brow wax, apply it to your brow hair, then fill in brows with brow powder, followed by applying the pomade again – this helps to give an instant thicker appearance to your existing brows.

D) Use a Brow Powder in Preference to Pencil – I tend to fill in brows using Brow Powder and an angled brush, gently filling gaps and manipulating the shape; I only use pencil when there is a bald spot, or I need to fill in a larger area (such as when the head of the brow is in a ‘tadpole’ shape and I need to add volume at the head to correct it). I find powder is much more natural looking, holds to skin better and avoids a harsh ‘drawn on’ look that you sometimes see on older women. Also filling in along the top of the brow gives the impression of a much thicker brow.
