Preparation for photo shoot

I’m in for a busy day tomorrow – I’m doing a photo shoot with a team of people that I really enjoy working with. We are shooting at my school studio for portfolio.

Earlier today I popped into the studio of Angela Marccucio Couture to pick up 8 gowns we will be using.

Angela makes the most exquisite gowns. She used to have her shop front on the corner of Burke and Toorak Rds in Melbourne – before I met her, I would drive past regularly hoping to catch the red traffic light so I could properly see the confection of designs she had on display – if the traffic light was green I had to be careful not to have a car accident trying to see her windows as I zoomed past! Today standing in her studio is a wonderment to any one who adores luxurious fabrics and trimmings! – never mind the stunning silhouettes Angela transforms them into!

Tomorrow will mostly be about the hair and makeup. I’m working alongside one of my favourite people – Victoria Hull. Vic is doing the hairstyling. Seriously there isn’t anything this girl can’t do with hair – and so quick too! It makes such a difference when everyone is working as one unit – there’s never any stress and things always flow smoothly when I work with Vic.

We have four models – two from Scene Model Management and two from Brazen Models. Each model will have two looks and two changes of gowns. Our photographer is Owen Zhang. I love working with Owen, I’ve worked with him a number of times in the past now; he’s extremely easy to work with and takes fabulous beauty shots. Angela will be on hand to dress and style our models (yay!).

So time will be of the essence. Vic and I have worked out a timetable for each model, moving them through hair and makeup, dressing, shooting and then repeating the whole process again to make sure we get the looks and the shots we are after, all within a 4 hour time frame.

The great great thing is we are shooting in my studio, which is where both Vic and I teach – it’s rather like shooting in your own home – everything is at our fingertips and we have everything set up to work comfortably, lots of space and perfect lighting  so we can work at full capacity. You don’t always have the luxury of space, or good lighting on shoots, but you always work at full capacity! – it’s just a bit more challenging out on location sometimes.

Off to bed now to have a quick look over the looks I’m doing (Pinterest is my best friend!).
