Makeup Certificates - accredited or not accredited, are they important in the industry?

In a word – NO!!
I’ve got a Diploma of Cinemagraphic Makeup (makeup for feature film) and God knows how many other certificates from here in Australia as well as Los Angeles – I have never (EVER!) been asked for my certificates (whether it’s a bride, photographer, producer, designer etc) – the ONLY thing that has ever gotten me work is my ability to apply beautiful makeup to a high standard; having a strong understanding of what my client requires and delivering it in a timely and professional manner. Sadly certificates are virtually meaningless in the industry – you can either do amazing makeup or you can’t, it’s that simple!
